8 Day lodge safari Best of the west

This is an affordable tour incorporating the best of the west, mixing history with game viewing plus two world heritage sites. From the splendours of the Matobo Hills, rich in history and its unique landscape to the fantastic game-viewing in Hwange and then finishing off in Victoria Falls

Tucked away into an ancient bushman's shelter, Camp Amalinda's charm will leave an indelible impression on every visitor. Some of the most majestic granite scenery in the world is found in the Matobo Hills. It is here that the hopes, trials and tribulations of the San Bushmen are recorded in the ancient rock art. The scenery is sublime and this combined with the long history of the area, from the superb bushman paintings, the royal hunting grounds and the burial place of Cecil john Rhodes - makes for a fascinating visit. Add the greatest concentration of Black eagles in the world and visiting the Mother Africa community project – all inspiring in their own way.

From Matobo it is a relatively long drive (4-5hrs) to Hwange Main Camp and on to Davison's Camp deep into the Hwange National Park. Davison's is in the private Linkwasha concession, rich in wildlife and off limits to the general public – this is game-viewing at its finest. The Two days at Davison's are spent game-viewing by vehicle and for the more adventurous - morning guided walks. Davison's epitomises safari camps of old, simple, comfortable with all the creature comforts without being over the top.

From Davison's it is another reasonably long drive (4 hrs) to Victoria Falls and Ilala Lodge. This is one of the smaller boutique hotels in Victoria Falls with great service and the warmest of welcomes. The two days spent at Ilala are at leisure for you to relax and decide what you want to do.
