A new 14 day escorted tour of Zimbabwe broken into 2 x 7 day modules, the Eastern Highlights concentrating on the scenery, natural beauty and history of the Eastern Highlands and the Western Wilderness which concentrates on game viewing in the western side of the country and the mighty Victoria Falls.

Day 1
Jacana Guest lodge in Harare (bed and breakfast basis)

You will meet your guide at the Jacana Gardens lodge at 6 pm on the first day and he will  take you and the rest of the group to a nearby restaurant for a brief  introduction and to explain in detail what to expect to the next 14 days. (Dinner and drinks for your own account)

Day 2 and 3
Pine Tree Inn Nyanga (Dinner bed and breakfast) (280km)

After an early breakfast, it is approximately a 3.5 hour drive to the Pine Tree Inn where you will arrive in plenty of time for lunch. That afternoon climb the nearby granite hill with its fantastic views and soak up the sights and sounds of Nyanga. The next day  explore “Zimbabwe’s Scotland” including a visit to Mt Nyangani (the highest in Zimbabwe), the Nyangombi Falls and the beautiful Troutbeck Inn for lunch.

Day 4
Musangano Lodge Mutare (Dinner bed and breakfast)  (110km)

It is a short 2 hour drive via Aberfoyle Tea Estate to Musangano Lodge 25kms from Mutare. This afternoon we can take a short hike up Beacon hill, or organise to go on one of the local activities. (Visit a commercial farm or see the lodge community work)

Day 5
Norma Jean’s Masvingo (Dinner bed and breakfast) (300km)

It is a 4 hour drive via the Birchenough Bridge to Norma Jean’s and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. After settling in at this charming hotel, spend the rest of the afternoon exploring these magnificent structures from which the country takes its name. One of the most important archaeological sites in Southern Africa and a UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 6 and 7
Bulawayo Club (Bed & Breakfast Basis) (300km)

It is another 4 hour drive from Masvingo to Bulawayo and this famous landmark. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city and was once the old gentleman’s club which has been modernised and turned into this iconic hotel steeped in traditions of day’s gone bye. From here one can explore Bulawayo including the superb natural history museum, and national railways museum. The following day is spent on a full days outing to the world heritage sight of Matobo Hills. The scenery and views so stunning, that Rhodes requested he be buried here. Spend the day exploring the hills and this fascinating landscape, with visits to Worlds view, the bushman paintings and Maleme dam.

For guests only wanting to spend 7 days taking in the beauty and history of the Eastern Highlands, the tour can terminate here and guests can fly out of Bulawayo. Alternatively new travellers can join the trip in Bulawayo on Day five and continue on the predominantly game viewing section until termination in Victoria Falls. 

Day 8 and 9 and 10
Davison’s Camp Hwange (Full Board) (330km+50km)

It is a relatively short 3 hour drive to Hwange Main Camp where you will meet up with the safari vehicles from Davison’s Camp and spend another hour making your way deep into Hwange National Park. The next three days are spent game viewing in this private concession within Zimbabwe’s premier game destination. Davison’s is in the heart of the best viewing in the country.
Herds of elephant congregate around waterholes and game-drives reward with fantastic sightings of the cats and other animals.  

Day 11 and 12
Ilala Lodge Victoria Falls (Bed and Breakfast) (50km+230km)

The drive from Davison’s to Victoria Falls will take approximately 4 hours and you will be at Ilala lodge in early afternoon. Your guide will take you for a tour of the mighty falls in the afternoon and make sure you are in time for a sundowner cruise on the mighty Zambezi. For the rest of the time here nothing is organised and clients can “do their own thing” (not covered in tour cost) this may be a helicopter flight of angels, white-water rafting, an elephant back safari or perhaps just relaxing by the pool and exploring the town at leisure.

Day 13
Victoria Falls Airport – tour ends

Whether you are catching an international flight out, or an internal flight back to Harare, your guide will make sure that he gets you to the airport in ample time.

The tour will run with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 passengers
The tour will be conducted in either a 7 or 16 seat air-conditioned minibus, depending on final numbers
