DISCOVER VENEZUELA AND COLOMBIA (13 Days / 12 Nights)

Day 1: Caracas, Caribbean Metropolis
Arrival to Maiquetia International Airport. Welcome and assistance at Caracas airport. Caracas, the vibrating Capital of Venezuela situated in a green valley, at the base of the Avila Mountain at 950 meters of altitude. Caracas is a big and cosmopolitan metropolis with a mixture of skyscrapers slums and luxury villas. Transfer to the Hotel. Overnight.


Day 2: Caracas – Maturin (B)
Breakfast. E . Enjoy the splendorous view of the capital from the Avila Mountain (Avila National Park ) that is one of the most beautiful areas surrounding Caracas. This park protects the wildlife retreating from the growing city. From altitudes this spectacular massif shows itself as a living natural History museum. Have a close look of the Humboldt Hotel, an architectural structure built on the highest point of the Mountain. Admire the view of the Caribbean Sea in one side and the City in the other From this point, the altitude is approximately 2.850 mts. In the afternoon transfer to the airport to take the flight to Maturin (55min). Arrival, transfer to the Ranch between the big plains and Orinoco Delta. Overnight.


Day 3. Maturín – Orinoco Delta (BLD)
Breakfast. Transfer to Boca de Uracoa port. Navigation to the lodge. After the installation you will take the excursion to undertake the fantastic adventure of penetrating by aquatic via the green forest of the Orinoco Delta. Lunch. In the afternoon, take a walk inside the jungle to have a closer view of the variety of plants, many of them unique in the world such as the “Temiche” whose palms are used for the construction of Indian houses roofs ; its fruit: the “coquito”, with drinkable water inside. We will also stop to fish the wild Piranha. Return to the camp. Dinner. Overnight.

 

Day 4. Orinoco Delta (BLD)
Breakfast. Excursion in the jungle to admire the local fauna: Monkeys, Parrots, Alligators, butterflies etc. Lunch. Visit the Warao Matriarcal Community Dinner and Overnight.


Day 5. Puerto Ordaz - Canaima (BLD)
Breakfast. Transfer to Puerto Ordaz to take the flight to Canaima. This ancestral and magical place is a land of tepuis, enigmatic and sacred mountains of the Indians. Ride thru the Canaima Lagoon, facing the waterfalls formed by the Carrao River. Walk in the jungle up until Sapo Falls, and pass under the water curtain formed by the river on its way down. Installation in a comfortable lodge in Canaima in front of the falls and in the shores of Canaima lagoon. Dinner and Overnight.


Day 6. Canaima National Park –Maracaibo (B)
Breakfast. Free morning to overflight Angel falls or make some additional excursions in Canaima, visit the Indian community and look the Indian handcraft shops. Then transfer to the airport to take the flight to Maracaibo by Caracas. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.


Day 7. Maracaibo-Santa Marta (B)
Breakfast. Visit to the Sinamaica Lagoon and some of the Guajiros communities living in the lake in “palafitos”. Visit the
Indian Guajiros Multicolor Market and admire the landscape. Transfer to the Colombian Guajira. Cross the border between Venezuela and Colombia. Arrival to Santa Marta in the Colombian coast. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in a seashore hotel.


Day 8. Santa Marta (B)
Breakfast. Excursion to the Tayrona Park, known for its natural diversity. Santa Marta is recognized for having some of the most spectacular beaches in Colombia. Overnight in Santa Marta.


Day 9. Santa Marta-Cartagena (B)
Breakfast. Land transfer to Cartagena (2hours). Visit of this colonial city declared by UNESCO as World Heritage. Privileged geographic position, the warm and hospitality of its people, the streets and plazas with the stone walls and the historical and colonial monuments of the city that give an unforgettable experience. Panoramic overview of the city. Overnight.


Day 10. Cartagena (B)
Breakfast. Day at leisure to discover walking the charming and colonial city of Cartagena. Overnight.

 

Day 11. Cartagena-Rosario Islands (BL)
Breakfast. This day you will visit the Rosario Islands by boat in the South of the Cartagena bay. These Islands are considered a National Natural Park with a complex coral bank populated with a great variety of reef life. Opportunity to swim and snorkelling in beautiful crystalline waters. Lunch in the beach. In the afternoon, back to Cartagena. Overnight.


Day 12. Cartagena-Bogota (B)
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Bogota. This day you can take an excursion to the Salt Cathedral (in option). This excursion conduce you to cross the Bogotá Plateau through the residential town of Zipaquira, where an underground salt cathedral is reached through a tunnel in the salt mine. Its altars and stations of the Cross are carved into the salt rock. Continue to the beautiful colonial town of new Guatavita, built in 1968 in the ancient style of the old Guatavita. Overnight.


Day 13. Bogota (D)
Breakfast. Visit of Bogotá, Cosmopolitan and modern city that mixes its historical background with the modern era. Discover the historical center, the Bolivar Square, The Primada Cathedral, the National Capitol. The Nariño Palace, the Gold Museum and the Bolivar’s Maison. In the afternoon transfer to the airport. Connection with your international Flight.
