The Pyrenees

The main attraction in the Pyrenees is the nature itself, the mountains with their majestic peaks strive to over 3,000 m against the sky and have a variety of fauna and flora as we seldom see in Spain.

Day 1. VIELHA (VALL DARAN). Arrival in Vielha. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2. TRIP VALL DARAN, Route of Romanesque Art. This interesting route leads to the Roman sights in the area of Lleida. Particularly noteworthy in the Vall d'Aran are the churches of Bossòst, Vielha, Escunhau, Arties, Salardú, Unha and Tredòs. Dinner and overnight in Vielha.

Day 3. VALL DARAN, NATIONAL PARK AIGÜESTORTES, SORT, LA SEU DURGELL 125 km. After breakfast we drive from Vielha to the artifical lake at St. Mauricio in the beautiful National Park Aigüestortes. This park is high mountains in all their glory and is supplied with water from nearly 200 high mountain lakes. It is unique because of its majestic landscape, its plant and animal wealth and the many century-old fir and pine forests, where chamois, capercaillie, marmots and even the mythical bearded vulture have their refuge. We continue to Sort. Free time to explore this city. Next to La Seu d'Urgell for dinner and overnight.

Day 4. LA SEU DURGELL, ANDORRA - 21 km. After breakfast we take a city tour of La Seu dUrgell. La Seu is located on an ancient crossroads. In the Bronze Age a village was already located on the hill Castellciutat. The Romans built a small settlement in the plane. With the consecration of the first cathedral from the 5th Century the importance of the city of Urgell began to grow by leaps and bounds. Its strategic position and political power of the Diocese consolidated La Seu as one of the main cities in Catalonia during the Middle Ages. Today it is an active city, service center and cultural capital of a large area of the Pyrenees. In the afternoon we proceed to Andorra. At arrival in Andorra la Vella free time for a little shopping spree in the town with its countless shops and boutiques. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5. ANDORRA. In the morning we take a trip into the interior of Andorra. Between Canillo and Encamp is the church of Meritxell. It is quite typical Andorran, constructed of slate and granite. We continue up to 1,800 m altitude to the Engolasters lake. Here you have the opportunity to make a nice walk around the lake or enjoy nature with a cup of coffee. Dinner and overnight stay in Andorra.

Day 6. ANDORRA, RIPOLL, FIGUERES - 186 km. Right after breakfast we head towards Figueres. On the way we stop in Ripoll to visit the monastery of Santa Maria. Then we continue to Figueres, birthplace of Salvador Dalí and visit his world-famous museum. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7. FIGUERES, RETURN HOME. After breakfast return home.
