DAY 1 – 3: Cape Town
You will be met on arrival at Cape Town International Airport and will be assisted with your onward journey to the Mount Nelson Hotel where you will spend the first three nights of your family adventure.

With Table Mountain, one of the most spiritual places on earth, at its heart and two oceans at its feet, the city of Cape Town, strategically situated at the south-western tip of Africa, has been famed for centuries as the Tavern of the Seas. Vibrant, cosmopolitan and an eclectic mix of old and new, this laid-back city is as much at home with its 17th century castle, whose cannons have never been fired in anger, as it is with its sleek skyscrapers and trendy malls. Home to South Africa’s first Mosque, oldest wine farm, a 350 year-old garden and timelessly beautiful beaches, it’s no surprise the legendary Flying Dutchman and his spectral ship have spent eternity sailing the city’s shores.

Your stay includes accommodation in a deluxe room, breakfast, luxury chauffeur driven transfers within a 10 km radius of the hotel, complimentary internet access, suitcase unpacking services on request, bottled water on turndown, gymnasium with 24 hour access and state of the art facilities, use of sauna, steam room and plunge pool at Librisa Spa, secure under cover parking on site, local newspapers and condensed version of New York Times on request.

DAY 4 & 5: Grootbos Nature Reserve
Make your way to the scenically beautiful area of Hermanus where you will spend two nightd at the Grootbos Garden Lodge in the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve.

Acknowledged as the best land-based whale watching site in the world, Hermanus even has an official whale-crier. Once hunted almost to extinction, these gentle giants loll around within a stone’s throw of the rocks. Originally called Hermanuspietersfontein after Hermanus Pieters, a teacher and shepherd who used to graze his sheep in the area, the town’s name was shortened in 1902 at the anguished request of the local postmaster!

Your stay includes accommodation in a garden lodge one bedroom luxury suite, welcome drink served upon arrival, fresh fruit daily in suite, light lunch, five-course dinner, buffet breakfast, horse riding, guided walks including fynbos nature tours and Milkwood walks, nature, marine & coastal drives with seasonal land-based whale watching, bird watching, maps for self-guided walks and transfers to/from all activities.

DAY 6 & 7: Plettenberg Bay
Make your way to the beautiful coastline of Plettenberg Bay in the Garden Route. Stay for two nights within the gorgeous rolling meadows and tree-dotted paddocks surrounding Kurland.

Most people believe that Cape Town was home to South Africa’s first settlers, when it was in fact Plettenberg Bay. Originally named Bahia Formosa (Beautiful Bay) by early Portuguese navigators, the vessel Sao Gonzales was anchored here for two months in 1630 for repairs. A storm wrecked the ship though and the hundred surviving crew members spent several months building two new boats and a tiny wooden chapel from the remains of the wreck. Beautiful Bay suffered a name change in 1778, when Governor Joachim van Plettenberg (clearly not a modest man) was so taken with the area, he named it after himself! Today, Plett is an upmarket resort town and in spring, home to whales who calve in the shallow waters of the bay.

Your stay includes accommodation in a luxury room with a loft, full breakfast, all non-alcoholic beverages, teas and coffees, complimentary use of Hotel sauna, steam room and gym, 24-hour Internet access in the library, use of quad bikes, mountain bikes and tennis court, Café Complet every day consisting of tea, coffee, cakes and pastries served on the verandah, secure parking on the private estate as well as complimentary children’s Shetland pony rides (ages 1 – 6).

DAY 8 – 10: Shamwari Game Reserve
Make your way to the elegantly Colonial Shamwari Riverdene Lodge where you will spend three blissfully tranquil nights. Your stay includes accommodation in a luxury room, all meals, selected beverages and two game drives daily.

DAY 11: Departure
