Namib Desert Dream Tour

Day 1: Windhoek - Namib Naukluft Lodge
Travellers will be collected by their driver/guide from their Windhoek hotel at 14h00 (or 13h00 during Namibian wintertime). Travelling to the lodge via the scenic Spreetshoogte pass (one of the steepest and most scenic passes in Namibia) the tour stops at the small settlement of Solitaire, (famous for it's apple pie!) before proceeding to the lodge. Namib Naukluft Lodge & the Soft Adventure Camps are situated on the same property located between Solitaire and Sesriem and is located on a 13,000ha farm, which has been a private nature reserve since 1999. The backdrop of granite hills, an amazing sight, sets the tone for the duration.

Day 2: Sossusvlei
The early morning departure is rewarded with sight of the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei. Many visitors take the opportunity to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world, (and after catching your breath), there is the opportunity to take a few pictures of the surrounds; including Naravlei, Cessna Pan and the rocky ridges of Witberg (White Mountains). From above, the desert is so beautiful and alive! After a picnic breakfast, the tour continues with a visit to 'Dead Vlei' and the Sesriem Canyon, before returning to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon has been set aside for a sundowner-drive to the natural 'marble mountains'. For those who may have had enough sightseeing, there is time to chill or relax at the lodge, with a dip in the pool a clear favourite. The verandah is a popular meeting place for a sundowner and to enjoy a spectacular Namibian sunset.

Day 3: Naukluft Mountains / Namib Naukluft Lodge
Those interested in walking will depart from the lodge at around 07h00 on an optional guided walk in the Naukluft Mountains. This route is still part of the private nature reserve and takes approximately 1.5hrs, building up a healthy appetite before returning to the lodge for a full breakfast. The remainder of the morning is free, with relaxing beside or in the pool, whilst enjoying the great views over the plains
An optional (and very popular) alternative for this morning is to join a balloon safari at Sossusvlei, this should be pre-booked when booking the safari and is at extra cost.
After your morning activity lunch is served at the lodge and in the afternoon, it's time to participate on an extensive desert drive, crossing the dry riverbed of the Tsondab to visit the Moringa Forest– one of Namibia's hidden treasures! At a chosen scenic location, you will be no doubt enjoy a 360° view, whilst experiencing the true solitude of the surrounding environment. Return to the lodge is via a picturesque route, where depending on season, herds of springbok and oryx may be spotted.
In the evenings, guests can listen to the sounds of the barking gecko and gaze at the fascinating starlit Namibian night skies.
