Eco Friendly

With global warming and climate change, the Maldives is definitely a country under threat and more and more resorts (particularly new resorts opening up) are becoming more environmentally aware and more Eco Friendly.

More and more travelers are equally becoming more environmentally friendly and will look for resorts that do as much as they can to protect the environment around them.

Resorts such as Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Park Hyatt, Soneva Resorts, Four Season Resorts,Kuramathi Island Resort, The Waldorf Astoria and Kurumba Maldives all now have Marine Biology centers who do active research in the Marine conservation. They educate the guests, do reef cleaning projects, plant coral garden sand some do turtle conservation.

Some have introduced organic gardens, nature walks and take great care in protecting the islands flora and fauna.

Many resorts now have their own water plants so that they can provide drinking water to the clients, rather than offering pre purchased water in plastic bottles which arehard to dispose on and not good for the environment.

A lot more care is taken when building new resorts these days, particularly when building overwater villa's and working with the natural beauty of the islands, rather than simply flattening all the trees and bushes to make way for the villa's.
