Grand Tour of Italy and Sicily 15 Days-14 Nights

Day 1. Rome.
Upon arrival at Rome Fiumicino airport, meet and greet your tour escort and transfer to hotel. Time at leisure in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2. Rome.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the city, including: the Colosseum (from the outside), Trevi Fountain, Castel S. Angelo and St. Peter's Basilica (from the outside). In the afternoon visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Special welcome dinner with music and wine included. Return to your hotel and overnight.

Day 3. Rome-Siena-Florence.
After breakfast, departure to Siena. Enjoy a walking tour of the city with your tour escort to admire the Dome (from the outside), and the magnificent square known as II Campo, where twice a year the Palio race is run on bareback horses. Late in the afternoon, arrive in Florence, the "Cradle of the Renaissance", known worldwide for its unequalled treasures. A stop is planned at Michelangelo's square for a photo opportunity. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Rome-Siena-Florence.
After breakfast, departure to Siena. Enjoy a walking tour of the city with your tour escort to admire the Dome (from the outside), and the magnificent square known as II Campo, where twice a year the Palio race is run on bareback horses. Day 5. Florence-Venice.
After breakfast, time at leisure before late morning departure to Venice, known as the "Door of the Orient". Day at leisure. Overnight.

Day 6. Venice-San Marino.
After breakfast, guided visit of St. Mark's Square and neighbouring sites. Early afternoon departure to San Marino, the world's oldest republic and Europe's third smallest state. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7. San Marino-Assisi-Rome.
After breakfast, free time to explore San Marino before departure to Assisi, a great religious town significant of the life of St. Francis. Visit the great Basilica with its magnificent paintings by Giotto. Continue to Rome, driving through picturesque Umbria, the "Green Heart" of Italy. Special dinner in a typical Roman restaurant. Overnight at hotel near the Airport.

Day 8. Rome-Pompeii-Sorrento.
After breakfast, departure to the Sorrentine Peninsula, visit a cameo factory before arrival in Pompeii. Free time for lunch. Possibility of a optional tour (paid locally) of the excavactions of this ancient city destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Afternoon arrival in Sorrento. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9. Sorrento-Capri-Sorrento.
After breakfast, transfer to the harbour and departure to Capri by hydrofoil, (ticket to the funicular included) Upon arrival free time to explore this magical island on your own (tour escort can offer you suggestions of how to spend your time on the island). Return to Sorren¬ to and free time at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10. Sorrento-Calabria Region.
After breakfast, rest of the morning at leisure. In the afternoon, departure to the Calabria region (Rende province of Cosenza). Dinner and overnight.

Day 11. Calabria Region-Taormina.
After breakfast, depart to the beautiful town of Taormina, a favorite with tourists worldwide and known for its spectacularly preserved ancient Greek amphitheatre dating back to the 3rd century BC. Free time for shopping or a leisurely stroll. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12. Taormina-Mt. Etna-Siracusa-Taormina.
After breakfast, depart for an excursion to Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, travel up to the "Rifugio Sapienza", 1900 mts above sea level. Free time to enjoy the incredible views. Continue to Siracusa, for a guided visit of the Neapolis Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphithea¬ tre and the Ear of Dionysius. Return to Taormina. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13. Taormina-Agrigento.
After breakfast, departure to Agrigento. Upon arrival enjoy a guided visit of the Valley of Temples. Afterwards proceed to a local farm for a sampling of delicious Sicilian specialties. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14. Agrigento-Monreale-Palermo-Rome.
After breakfast, depart to Palermo, with a stop in Monreale for a guided visit of the outstanding moorish-norman style Duomo: extensively decorated with mosaics and fine gold. Farewell Lunch consisting of local Sicilian specialties. Continue to Palermo and after a panoramic visit of the city transfer to the airport for your flight to Rome. Upon arrival in Rome, transfer to hotel near the airport. Overnight.

Day 15. Rome.
After breakfast, transfer to Rome Fiumicino airport for your return flight home.
