The day starts with pickup at Akureyri airport or hotel in town followed by a 50 min scenic drive to Siglufjörður. On the way you can enjoy the view of Akureyri and other towns, villages, mountains and the fjord as we drive to the northern most tipo of the Troll peninsula.
In the late afternoon you will join the guesthouse family to a dinner celebrating Þorláksmessa (St.Thorlak´s mass). There you will have a chance to taste the Icelandic Skata, a special seafood delicacy that is followed with a shot of Icelandic Brennivin (the Black death schnaps) along with other treats.

24th December – the Christmas Eve (Aðfangadagur)
Christmas Eve Breakfast in the morning will be followed by a guided tour and a visit to the Herring Era Museum. At noon you will experience a traditional Christmas Lunch. It starts with almond porridge (möndlugrautur) followed with Icelandic salmon, herring, wild pate and other dishes. Snaps and beer included or Christmas Ale. The afternoon is spent at your own leisure. Depending on weather you can stroll around town, hike in the hills or simply relax and read a good book.
At 18:00 you have the option to enjoy a Christmas mass with the locals in the town church - note the mass is held in Iceland.
After mass we head home and have our traditional Christmas dinner followed by opening our presents and Christmas cards. (Remember to bring along to Iceland your Christmas cards, unopened - as is custom in Iceland).
