Winter Wonders in Rovaniemi

Day 1: Arrival & Northern Lights Snowmobile

Tour Your exciting Lapland adventure starts at Rovaniemi Airport, where you are greeted and privately transferred to your comfortable hotel. After an early dinner around dusk, get ready for a guided snowmobile safari into the wild to experience the extraordinary beauty of the northern Lights!* During a break in the tour, enjoy a hot beverage and light snack around a campfire. Later, you are returned to the hotel.

* Please note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed. This safari is not operated on Tuesdays and Fridays; if you arrive on either of these days we can re-arrange your itinerary so you can enjoy this activity on another day.

Day 2: Dog sled Ride & Traditional Finnish Sauna

Start the day with a ride to a husky kennel, where you will learn to “mush” and embark on a thrilling dog sled ride! The dogs howl and pull at their harnesses to get moving, and as soon as the anchor is lifted, they take off at full speed through the snowy forests and plains. Back at the kennel, you have some time to enjoy a hot beverage with the guide before your transfer back to the hotel.

The rest of your day is free to enjoy this spectacular destination. Why not do as the locals and relax in the traditional Finnish sauna at your hotel?

Day 3: Evening at the Arctic Snow Hotel

Explore Rovaniemi on your own today. If you’re interested in learning more about local history, nature and culture, we suggest a visit to the Arktikum Museum, featuring exhibits about Finnish Lapland and the Arctic region. You can also add more outdoor adventures to your holiday from our selection of day tours, though we do recommend booking these well in advance.

In the evening, you are taken to the Arctic Snow Hotel in Lehtojärvi, a magical place with excellent opportunities to view the northern lights (if conditions are right). After a guided tour of this fascinating hotel, enjoy an atmosphere-rich dinner inside a warm Lappish tepee on the premises. Around midnight you are returned to your hotel.

* The Arktikum Museum is closed on Mondays.

Optional upgrade: overnight at the Arctic SnowHotel

For a truly memorable Lapland experience, spend the night at the Arctic SnowHotel. As its name suggests, this hotel is made of snow and ice, and the inside temperature is between 0 and −5° C. But no worries! The thermal sleeping bag safe will keep you cosy and warm during the winter night.

Day 4: Sami Reindeer Farm & Santa Claus Village

The day’s adventures begin with a guided snowmobile trip to a reindeer farm, where you can learn about the Sami culture and its deep roots in reindeer herding.* You will also enjoy a ride in a reindeer sleigh and participate in a special Lappish ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle. After lunch at a cosy restaurant, continue to the Santa Claus Village to visit none other than jolly old Santa himself! Here, you can also send postcards from Santa’s post office or do a bit of shopping at the village’s various souvenir and handcraft shops.

* Please note that during December, transportation to the reindeer farm is by car instead of snowmobile.

Day 5: Departure

Today you are transferred to Rovaniemi airport in time for your departure flight.
