Andina / Zona Cafetera - 23 days

Day 1: Arrival at the El Dorado airport in Bogota and transport to the hotel in the historical center for the first night.

Day 2: At 08.00 the city tour starts with a short walks to the cableway that will bring us to Cerro Monserate (3050m) for an amazing view over the city. When we get back down we will make a walk through the historical center and we will visit Plaza de Bolivar, the Gold and the Botero museum. Free afternoon and second night in Bogota.

Day 3: In the morning with the bus via Tunja to Villa de Leyva (+/- 5 hours) and accommodation in the colonial village. In the afternoon free to explore the colonial village Villa de Leyva.

Day 4: Day tour with local guide to one of the many waterfalls in the beautiful surroundings of Villa de Leyva. (Alternative: horse ride to Pozo Azul, El Fosíl & el Fiernito)

Day 5: With the bus through San Gil to the colonial village Barichara (+/- 6 hours), also known to be Colombia´s most beautiful village. In this little village you have the feeling that you went back in time. Accommodation in a nice colonial hotel with view of the church on the central square.

Day 6: In the morning we will walk over the ‘Camino Real’ to Guane (+/- 3 hours), ‘el Pueblo sin tiempo’ or as we say the village without time. At 12:00 o´clock we will take the bus back to Barichara, pick up our luggage and take the bus to San Gil where we will stay just outside of the village in a pretty hotel with swimming pool.

Day 7: At 09.00 o´clock we will be picked up and brought to the waterfalls of Juan Curi where we will have an ecological walk. It is also possible to swim at the base of the waterfall. In the afternoon we will go white water rafting over the Foncé rivier, until the Parque Gallineral in San Gil. From here we have transport back to our hotel for the night.

Day 8: In the morning we will go by bus through the Chicamocha Canyon to Bucaramanga (+/- 3 hours). From here we will fly directly to Medellin where we will stay in a hotel close to the hectic center of Botero square.

Day 9: City tour Medellin in which we will visit various squares and monuments and visit the neighborhood Santa Domingo in the mountains of Medellin with the MetroCable for an excellent view over the city. In the evening we will visit the famous disco mango´s (only in the weekend) and second night in Medellin.

Day 10: In the afternoon we will go by bus to the Nature Reserve Rio Claro (+/- 3 hours) where we will stay in semi open cabañas with view on the clear Rio Claro river. Rest of the day free to enjoy the surrounding, the flora and fauna and to swim in the river.

Day 11: In the morning we will make an ecological walk alongside the Rio Claro and we visit a cave with marble walls and the special night birds Guacharos. These birds look for shelter from light and leave around dusk to look for food, this spectacle we will be able to watch at the end of the day. Second night in the cabañas at the Nature Reserve Rio Claro.

Day 12: In the morning we´ll go to Hacienda Napoles, the former outdoor villa of Pablo Escobar. During his glory days he had a safari park there with all animals you can imagine. After his death the animals were transferred to zoo´s in the area or where shot. A family of hippo´s have adjusted themselves so well in the area that they can still be found in the ´wild´. In the afternoon by bus to Puerto Triunfo, alongside the Magdalena river to Honda where we will stay the night in the colonial center.

Day 13: In the morning a walk through the city and in the afternoon by bus to Santa Rosa (+/- 5 hours), it will be a lovely ride through the mountains and valleys of the Andes. In Santa Rosa we will stay at the Hot Springs so we can enjoy them by night.

Day 14: In the morning time to enjoy the hot springs and surroundings. In the afternoon transport to a tipical Finca Cafetera (authentic Coffee Farm) where we stay with a local family.

Day 15: Free day on the finca to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and walk through the coffee and banana plantation, to relax by the pool and see the coffee process. Every day around 4 in the afternoon the coffee pickers return to the finca from their hard labor and show us the coffee process. Second night on the finca.

Day 16: In the morning time to relax by and in the afternoon by Willys to Pereira where we take a chiva (another typical Colombian vehicle) to SFF Otun Quimbaya (a National Park of Colombia).

Day 17: Today we have time to take several trails to see (endemic birds), howler monkeys and many butterflies with transparent wings accompanied by a local guide and good binoculairs

Day 18: In the morning transport to Pereira from where we take the bus to Salento and a Willys to the beautiful Valle de Cocora. Here we will stay with a local familie on a farm with amazing views over the famous valley with the Palma de Cerra.

Day 19: At 08.30 we will be picked by our local guide for the day and we will make a horse ride from approximately 5 hours through the cloud forest and then through the hills of the Valle de Cocora. In the afternoon we will go back to Salento by Willys to stay the night in this colorful little town.

Day 20: Transport to the airport of Armenia or Pereira. End of tour.
