10 Day Elephant Trunks and Desert Trails Safari

This adventure begins and ends at Maun International Airport in Botswana

DAY 1 & 2: Okavango Delta
On arrival at Maun Airport you will be met and assisted onto a light aircraft flight into the Okavango Delta.

Spend two nights within a classic tented camp, built around an imposing sausage tree on a private wilderness concession overlooking the floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Your stay at Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp includes all meals and drinks (excluding premium brands, park fees, laundry, emergency medical evacuation, morning and evening game drives, mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) excursions and walking safaris.

You will also have the opportunity to see the wilds of Africa through the eyes of an elephant as you take a leisurely walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants as they forage for food throughout their home range. The incredible elephant interaction includes a picnic lunch in the company of these giants of the bush.

DAY 3 & 4: Okavango Delta
Board a light aircraft for your flight to your choice of lodge.

Choose between &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, set in a maze of brilliant papyrus between the clear waters of the Okavango Delta and game-filled, grassy floodplains, and &Beyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, gazing out over expansive lagoons and channels from beneath a canopy of ebony trees. Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, emergency medical evacuation insurance, laundry, daily lodge activities and park fees. Adventures include twice-daily game drives in an open 4×4 safari vehicle, bush walks, boating and mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions in the Okavango Delta, birdwatching and stargazing.

Watch giraffe crane their necks up in wonder as you enjoy a scenic helicopter flight over the maze of intricate waterways that makes up the Okavango Delta, marvelling at the spectacular scenery and ample wildlife.

DAY 5 & 6: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Board a light aircraft for your flight to your next lodge. Camp Kalahari is nestled amongst the acacias and palms of Brown Hyena Island, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

Head off for an introductory horse ride in the afternoon to match horse and rider. The next morning, you will take a long ride through the pans before enjoying game drive and looking for unique desert species such as springbok, gemsbok, red hartebeest, brown hyena and black-maned Kalahari lion

DAY 7: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Journey through mopane and acacia woodlands on horseback, visiting the famous Greens Baobab, scarred with the initials of early adventurers dating back 150 years. Hunt for Stone Age artefacts at Gutsa Pan. Spend the night in a comfortable dome tent with a bush toilet and bucket shower.

DAY 8: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Get to know the famous meerkats of the Kalahari as you interact with these fascinating creatures. Ride along trails worn by wildlife before taking an afternoon stroll to a waterhole to look out for unique bird species. Sleep beneath star-strewn skies in a fly camp that night.

DAY 9: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Mount up for the ride back to Camp Kalahari, breaking for lunch at the immense Chapman’s Baobab, one of the largest trees in Africa.

DAY 10: Departure
Indulge in an early morning walk with Zu/’hoasi Bushman trackers and witness their vast and ancient knowledge of plants, animal behaviour and survival skills. Board a light aircraft for a short flight to Maun International Airport where your adventure with us will end.
